Lasagna recipe - Italian pasta

 Lasagna is a classic Italian dish consisting of layers of pasta, meat sauce, cheese, and tomato sauce. The noodles are layered with a mixture of ground beef or sausage, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and a flavorful tomato sauce. The dish is then baked in the oven until the cheese is melted and the flavors are fully combined. This delicious and satisfying meal is perfect for a family dinner or for a special occasion. Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can of crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 16 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess fat, then add the onion and garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt and pepper, and bring to a simmer. Let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Prepare the lasagna noodles according to the package directions. Set aside after draining. Drain and set aside.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, eggs, and Parmesan cheese.
  6. Spread a small amount of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce. Spread a layer of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then top with a layer of mozzarella cheese.
  7. Repeat layering of noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese, ending with a layer of meat sauce and mozzarella cheese on top.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until cheese is golden and bubbly.
  9. Allow for a few minutes of cooling before slicing and serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Enjoy!
